Charting QBC’s Future

Quahog Bay Conservancy has charted its course through 2030. Learn how our new mission and strategic plan will guide future investments in science, education, conservation, and the working waterfront.

Over the past year, Quahog Bay Conservancy has taken an important step in defining its future. Working with staff, board members, community partners, and supporters, we completed a new strategic plan that will guide our work through 2030.

The process challenged us to think carefully about where we can have the greatest impact and how we can best serve Quahog Bay, coastal Maine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. The result is a clear roadmap focused on protecting the bay’s ecological health, supporting Maine’s working waterfront, expanding marine science and educational opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and building a sustainable organization for the long term.

While much of our day-to-day work remains rooted in the water: monitoring water quality, restoring habitat, advancing research, and supporting fisheries – the strategic plan also embraces a broader vision. We see opportunities to connect more students to marine science, engage more volunteers in stewardship, deepen collaborations with researchers and industry partners, and create new pathways into Maine’s blue economy.

This work is especially timely as Quahog Bay Conservancy prepares for its future home at the Harpswell Marine Institute and continues to expand programs that connect science, education, and community stewardship.
